1 · Your Shopify translation export

In Shopify admin: Settings → Languages → Export, choose English and All content (or Untranslated / Outdated). Shopify e-mails you the CSV. The file is read in this browser only.

Checking this browser…

Uses the translator built into Chrome on your computer (Chrome 138 or newer, desktop): your texts are not sent to a translation service and there is no word count to pay for. In other browsers the glossary, repeats and all checks still work, and you type or paste the rest.

Open your export or the sample: you see every row that would break your theme or show German to English shoppers, and what is ready to import.

Pro: your translation memory, kept for the next export

Every month there are new products, and German texts you change turn into outdated rows. Pro remembers every English line you approved, per store, and fills the next export from it. You see exactly which German words changed since your last import.

Questions

Does it install anything in my Shopify theme?

No. There is no app, no script tag and no store access. You export the CSV from Settings → Languages, and import the file you download here with the Import button on the same page. The English lands in Shopify's own translations.

What do the 11 checks look at?

No English yet; HTML tags that differ from the German; Liquid like {{ count }} missing; a link or image address changed; a number that differs (0,8 = 0.8 is fine); German words left in the English; your glossary term not used; a protected name translated; a URL handle that is not a clean slug; SEO title or meta description too long; German changed after the translation.

Will my links change?

An English handle that is already a clean slug is never changed. Only a handle with spaces, capitals or umlauts is rewritten (ä → ae), and a new product gets its handle from its English title, unique per resource type.

Is the translator good enough?

It is a machine translation. Read the rows before you import, and edit any English in the table. Your glossary and protected names are applied every time; legal pages (Impressum, Widerrufsbelehrung, AGB) should be read by someone who knows the law. This is a translation tool, not legal advice.
