Nursing Resume Template — 6 RN Resumes in Word (New Grad, ICU Transfer, Travel Contract, LPN-to-RN, Charge Nurse, Case Management)

6 ready-to-fill RN resumes, each written for one career move and already filled in with real nursing wording. U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, May 2023 Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics: median pay for registered nurses is $86,070 a year — a resume the screening system cannot read is the one that never reaches the nurse recruiter.

Header — Name, Credentials and License

Use your legal name and order the credentials highest degree first, then licensure — BSN, RN, not RN, BSN.

City, state and ZIP only — never a street address, and no photo, date of birth or marital status on a U.S. resume.

Type your own state, license number and expiration in MM/YYYY; delete the multistate phrase if your state is not a Nurse Licensure Compact member.

List only cards you currently hold and put the real expiry date on each; the dates are checked at onboarding, so an expired card here is worse than no card.

Professional Summary

Replace the hours with the number your program actually recorded and name the unit and shift you are applying to — a summary that names no unit reads as a mass application.

Copy the program name, unit and requisition number word for word from the posting; the screening system matches on that exact string.

Clinical Rotations and Preceptorship

Swap in your facility, MM/YYYY dates, hours and patient load; keep every verb in past tense even for the rotation you finished last week.

Name the rhythm, drug class or procedure you actually handled — 'assisted the nurse' tells a recruiter nothing about what you can do on day one.

This is your strongest entry as a new graduate — put your highest patient load and the fact that you carried a full assignment in the first sentence.

Group the short rotations into one line and delete the languages if you do not speak them at working level.

Education, NCLEX and Honors

Include the GPA only if it is 3.5 or above; otherwise delete that part and leave the graduation month and year.

If you have not sat it yet, write 'NCLEX-RN scheduled for 07/2026' — never delete this line, a nurse recruiter looks for it before anything else on a new-grad resume.

Keep only what is verifiable and delete high-school awards entirely.

Clinical Skills, Systems and Keywords

Delete anything you have not done under supervision — you can be asked to demonstrate any skill on this line during a competency check.

Name the exact charting system your clinical site used; hospitals filter on that word because it removes training days.

Rewrite this line for every application using the exact nouns in that posting, and delete any word that is not also somewhere else in your resume.

After the free one gets you hired, you are no longer a new graduate — and the wording that worked has nothing to say about a unit you have not worked on yet. Name and credentials: Danielle M. Ramirez, BSN, RN

Contact line: Phoenix, AZ 85018 | (602) 555-0148 | [email protected] | linkedin.com/in/danielleramirezrn

License line: Registered Nurse — Arizona State Board of Nursing, License #RN345219, active through 04/2027; multistate privilege under the Nurse Licensure Compact

Certification line: BLS Provider — American Heart Association, expires 03/2027 | ACLS Provider — American Heart Association, expires 03/2027

This block is the whole first screen. A missing license line or an expired card date closes the application before a human opens it — recruiters filter on licensure first. Professional Summary

Summary statement: New graduate registered nurse with 720 supervised clinical hours across medical-surgical, telemetry and progressive care units, licensed in Arizona, seeking a night-shift position on an adult medical-surgical floor with a structured nurse residency.

Target line: Applying to the Summer 2026 Nurse Residency Program, Unit 4-West (Medical-Surgical), requisition #2026-14872.

Two sentences, no more. Write it last, after the rotations below are filled in, so the summary repeats words you can actually back up.

Clinical Rotations and Preceptorship

Medical-surgical rotation: Medical-Surgical Rotation — Valley Regional Medical Center, Phoenix, AZ | 08/2025–12/2025 | 180 hours. Carried a four-patient assignment under preceptor supervision, performed head-to-toe assessments each shift, completed dressing changes and IV push medications, and charted all care in the electronic health record.

Telemetry or specialty rotation: Telemetry Rotation — Copper State Medical Center, Mesa, AZ | 01/2026–03/2026 | 135 hours. Monitored continuous cardiac rhythms for a 24-bed unit, recognized and escalated atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response to the charge nurse, and administered scheduled cardiac medications with a second-nurse check.

Capstone preceptorship: Senior Capstone Preceptorship — Progressive Care Unit, Valley Regional Medical Center, Phoenix, AZ | 01/2026–04/2026 | 180 hours. Managed a full five-patient assignment with one RN preceptor for the final six weeks, including admissions, discharges, blood product administration and shift handoff using SBAR.

Additional clinical experience: Community and Maternal Health Rotations — Sunrise Family Health Clinic and Copper State Medical Center | 05/2025–07/2025 | 225 hours combined. Completed immunization administration, newborn assessments and postpartum teaching in English and Spanish.

New graduates lead with rotations, not with unrelated jobs. Keep the order newest first and keep every date in MM/YYYY — mixing date formats is the fastest way to have your dates parsed wrong by an application form.

Education, NCLEX and Honors

Degree entry: Bachelor of Science in Nursing — Copper State University College of Nursing, Phoenix, AZ | Graduated May 2026 | GPA 3.71 / 4.00

NCLEX status: NCLEX-RN passed on the first attempt, June 2026.

Honors and memberships: Dean's List, four semesters | Student Nurses' Association, chapter treasurer 2025–2026

Education sits above experience only while you are a new graduate. Once you have a year of RN work, move this section below your nursing experience.

Keep this resume to one page while you are a new graduate, single column, no tables and no text boxes: a free online builder exports multi-column and table layouts that come back garbled in a hospital application form, and it does not know the credential order or the license line a nurse recruiter looks for first. Save as PDF from Word before uploading unless the posting asks for .doc or .docx.
