Questions

Where is my data?

In this browser on this device (local storage). Nothing is uploaded unless you turn on the Pro cloud backup, which is encrypted in your browser with a passphrase only you know — we store the locked file, never your data. Export everything as a file any time.

What happens if I cancel Pro?

Nothing is deleted. Your shops, materials, recipes and history stay readable and exportable on your device. Order imports, the saved month closes, CSV exports of closes and the cloud backup stop; the cloud copy is kept 90 days after your last backup so you can restore it.

Which order files work?

The orders CSV you download from Etsy (Shop Manager → Settings → Options → Download Data) or from Shopify (Orders → Export), and any CSV with an item name or SKU and a quantity. The columns found are shown before anything is imported, and you can change them.

How is cost of goods sold worked out?

FIFO: every purchase is a batch; making and selling use the oldest batch first. A month's cost of goods sold = opening stock + purchases − items taken for personal use − closing stock. Your own time is used for your price but never added to cost of goods (Schedule C line 37 excludes amounts paid to yourself). This is a record-keeping tool, not tax advice.

VAT / sales tax?

If you can reclaim VAT on purchases (VAT-registered), turn it on in Settings and costs are counted without VAT. If you cannot (for example the German Kleinunternehmer rule or a Japanese tax-exempt business), costs include VAT. Sales tax the buyer paid is not revenue.
