For researchers and writers who paste PDF quotes into Obsidian: the Text Format plugin's last code push was 21 July 2024 and 29 of its issues are still open. Paste the text, get clean Markdown, then a Flesch-Kincaid grade and the sentence splits that reach your target, from 11 formulas.
Joins PDF line breaks, rejoins hyphenated words, replaces fi/fl ligatures, turns • bullets into Markdown, caps headings at H6, keeps YAML front matter and code blocks as they are.

Flesch Reading Ease = 206.835 − 1.015 × words per sentence − 84.6 × syllables per word (Flesch 1948). Flesch-Kincaid grade = 0.39 × words per sentence + 11.8 × syllables per word − 15.59 (Kincaid 1975). Reading time uses 238 words per minute (Brysbaert 2019, non-fiction). Syllables are estimated with a vowel-group rule, so type an exact count if you have one. Why not the old plugin: Text Format's last code push was 21 July 2024, and its 29 open issues include ligature removal (#24) and a missing Remove line breaks command (#120).
