For US TikTok Shop sellers: profit per order and per month after the referral fee, creator commission, returns and the refund admin fee. Every 2 points of referral fee is $20 on each $1,000 of sales — check it before you price for Black Friday.
Which rate are you paying? TikTok Shop's public US table (Seller University, updated 05/14/2026) lists a 6% referral fee for most categories (5% for five jewelry sub-categories and pre-owned). Seller guides report 8% for most non-food categories since 4 August 2026. On 1,200 orders a month at $29.99, those 2 points are $691.20 a month. Two percentage points sound small until you multiply them by a month of orders.
TikTok Shop's public US referral-fee table on Seller University, last updated 05/14/2026, lists 6% for most categories, 5% for five jewelry sub-categories and for pre-owned goods. Since 4 August 2026, seller guides report that most non-food categories pay 8%. TikTok's public table does not show that change yet. So the only rate that counts is the one on your own settlement statement.
Here is what the gap does to a sample shop. The item sells for $29.99 before sales tax. The shop ships 1,200 orders a month. Product and packaging cost $8.50 an order, the shipping label $5.20. Creators earn a 15% affiliate commission. Five percent of orders come back.
At 6%, the referral fee is $1.80 per order and the creator commission $4.50. A kept order leaves $9.99 of profit. Of the 1,200 orders, 1,140 are kept. The 60 returns still cost the shipping label and a refund admin fee of $0.36 each, which is 20% of the referral fee, capped at $5. Monthly profit: $11,055.00. Monthly TikTok fees: $2,073.60.
At 8%, the referral fee is $2.40 per order. That is $691.20 a month more in fees, or $8,294.40 over 12 months. Monthly profit drops to $10,363.80. The break-even item price, before returns, is $17.79.
Now change one number at a time and watch the answer move.
Cut volume to 300 orders a month and the extra fee at 8% is $172.80 a month. Smaller, but the share of your margin is the same.
Drop the price to $19.99 and the referral fee at 6% is $1.20. Profit per kept order falls to $2.09, and monthly profit on 300 orders to $514.05. The fixed costs did not move; the fee did.
Raise the creator commission to 20% on that $19.99 item and profit per kept order is $1.09. At 8%, it is $0.69, and the break-even price climbs to $19.03. That item is now priced 96 cents above break-even before a single return.
This is why the rate matters more on cheap items with generous affiliate deals. The referral fee and the commission are both percentages of the price. The product cost and the shipping label are not. Every point you give away to TikTok or to a creator comes out of a margin that was already thin.
How to find your rate. Open Seller Center, go to Finance, then Statements. Take a few recent orders. Divide the referral fee by the fee base, which is the customer payment plus any platform discount, minus tax. If the answer is 0.06, you are on the table rate. If it is 0.08, you are paying what seller guides reported from 4 August.
The free calculator on our page does that one check completely. You type six numbers: price, orders per month, product cost, shipping label, creator commission and return rate. You get 12 results, including profit per order and per month at your rate and at the compare rate. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account.
The paid workbook is for the next job, the one you only notice after the first check: doing it for every product, and checking the statement itself. It has the same 12 live formulas, a sheet with 25 product rows at both rates, and a 200-line settlement check. Paste the fee base and the referral fee from your statement and every order charged a different rate than you expect is flagged.
Before Black Friday listings go live, run your best seller through it. If the margin at 8% is one you would not accept, reprice now rather than in January.
You type your item price, orders per month, product cost, shipping label, creator commission and return rate. It returns 12 figures: referral fee, creator commission and refund admin fee per order, orders kept, profit per order and per month, monthly TikTok fees, and what an 8% referral rate would cost you per month and per year, plus your break-even price.
US TikTok Shop sellers who run their own brand or a small shop and set their Q4 prices now. If you pay creators an affiliate commission and get some returns, the fee on a single order looks small, but at 1,200 orders a month a 2-point change in the referral fee is $691.20 a month in the sample.
Most free fee calculators use one fixed rate and stop at the fee. TikTok's public table (updated 05/14/2026) lists 6% for most categories, while seller guides report 8% from 4 August 2026. This page puts both rates on your own volume, returns and creator commission, so you see the gap in dollars.
The browser check is free and complete: one product, one month, all 12 results, no account. The $21 workbook is a one-time payment, not a subscription. It adds a 25-SKU sheet with each product's margin at 6% and 8%, and a 200-line settlement check that flags orders charged a different referral rate.
The workbook is $21 once. In the sample shop, the 2-point gap between 6% and 8% is $691.20 a month, or $8,294.40 over 12 months. Checking 200 settlement lines by hand means dividing each referral fee by its fee base; the workbook does it as you paste.
