What breaks, and when

Aurora MySQL version 2 standard support ended 31 Oct 2024; RDS Extended Support year 3 pricing starts 1 Dec 2026, and SQL that 8.0 removed fails after the upgrade.

        tx_isolation and tx_read_only were removed in MySQL 8.0. Fix: Use transaction_isolation / transaction_read_only.
  ERROR aurora-sample.sql:5  [no-auto-create-user]
        NO_AUTO_CREATE_USER was removed from sql_mode in MySQL 8.0; an options file that sets it stops mysqld from starting. Fix: Remove NO_AUTO_CREATE_USER from sql_mode.
  ERROR aurora-sample.sql:7  [grant-creates-user]
        Using GRANT to create users or set passwords was removed in MySQL 8.0. Fix: CREATE USER first, then GRANT privileges only.
